Sharing - Psychoeducation: What It Is and How it Helps — www.childabusesurvivor.net Get educated about trauma and the conditions that can be caused by trauma. Do it for yourself so that you can understand and heal from your trauma and do it for the people around you impacted by trauma. Don't tell me you don't know anyone who's been impacted by trauma. "Time in nature and sunshine won’t solve every #mentalhealth issue but it doesn’t hurt to add it in when we can and it’s not a bad way to spend a Sunday as opposed to feeling #anxiety about the upcoming week. #sunday #nature #louisiana" — www.instagram.com
Sharing - Nearly 1 in 10 American adults, 1 in 5 teens report having depression — www.childabusesurvivor.net The mental health of Americans has been in decline for years. Don't let the political talking points fool you into thinking this is pandemic related. Shutdowns, masks, social distancing, and all the other things that happened due to the pandemic did not cause a spike in mental health issues like depression out of nowhere. The spike was already happening.

Overcoming Childhood and the Stories We Tell Ourselves — www.childabusesurvivor.net I caught an interesting, short podcast episode on this topic recently. The host, Dave Fraser is joined by Psychotherapist Lori Gottlieb to discuss the question of whether we can overcome our childhoods. It's an interesting episode, and I think many of you might learn a thing or two about how the stories we've been told about ourselves in childhood can be rewritten and how a good therapist might assist in that.
